Hivemapper Bee Maps Raises $32 Million to Expand Its Powerful Crowdsourced Geo Data

There are two ways to collect geographic data. Spend billions of dollars trying to create your own proprietary data set (see Google, Apple, etc). Or develop a novel way to invite the world to do it with you, and Hivemapper’s Bee Maps project certainly qualifies as novel. Using affordable hardware, contributors to the map share in any value the data set creates via the $HONEY token. It’s been so successful that companies like Lyft and Volkswagen are taking note. As are investors -- Hivemapper just announced a $32 million financing to boost expansion.
